    Preparation Time: 10´
  • Ingredients:
  • 240g Rolled oats
  • 6 Medium bananas
  • 1500ml Semi-skimmed
  • 3 handful Walnuts
Without:
Tips/Notes

Note that pan will be harder to clean than the microwaveable bowl!

METHOD

1. Microwave method:
Mix oats and milk in a deep microwave- safe bowl and microwave at full power for 2 minutes per portion.
Stir, let stand for 1 minute and either top with the chopped bananas and walnuts or mix them into the porridge.
Add more milk if needed.
Avoid walnuts for babies under 12 months. For older babies make sure they are chopped small to avoid any risk of chocking. Add more milk if too dry and serve

2. a. Hob Method:
En una cacerola mezclar la leche con la avena y cocinar hasta que rompa en hervor, revolviendo continuamente para evitar que la preparación se adhiera a la cacerola.

2. b In a saucepan, mix milk and oats, bring to boil stirring continuously to avoid the porridge sticking to the pan.
Lower the heat and simmer, stir all the time, for 5 minutes.

2. c Remove from the hob, stir in the chopped walnuts and bananas.

INFORMATION

For 6 months old babies: use breast milk an no nuts
For 12 months old babies: use full-fat cows milk, nuts can be used but chopped small to prevent chocking.
From 2 years on: use semi-skimmed milk, nuts are OK.

VARIANTS

Other types of nuts (hazelnuts, almonds) may be used as long as they are ground or chopped very small depending on the age of the children.
Try adding different types of flaked grains such as amaranth, rice, quinoa for a different taste/texture.
Seasonal fruit may be used instead of bananas: peaches, plums, strawberries or other berries are very tasty in porridge.
